Our Story

Who are we?

Introducing AMELIORATE. AMELIORATE means ‘to make better’ and that’s exactly what we’re here to do. We provide clinically-proven, dermatologist-approved skincare solutions to transform your skin and your confidence. Designed by experts, every product has a dual action, to help your skin now and protect it for the future.

Our Founder

Originally born out of our founder Annette's desire to find a successful treatment for her Keratosis Pilaris (also known as ‘chicken skin’ commonly found on the backs of your arm) AMELIORATE’s skincare scientists used their expertise to help combat the condition’s rough, dry and bumpy texture. After a lifetime of struggles with KP, it was when Annette’s own children developed the same condition that she decided to take action. Teaming up with some of the UK's leading skincare scientists, together they created AMELIORATE. We are the UK’s first dermatological skincare brand proven to help treat rough, dry, bumpy skin.

Our Journey

“The original starting point for what has become AMELIORATE was all based around the power of lactic acid. Not only for its natural exfoliating properties, but also its ability to moisturise. However, we wanted to go a stage further and increase not only the initial moisturising results but also the longevity of the moisturising properties. To this end, we combined the lactic acid with a combination of five other well proven skincare moisturising ingredients, leading to the name La (lactic acid) H (hydrating) 6 (total number) … LaH6.

LaB6 came about as we needed to target blemishes. Lactic acid is still a key component but here we combine it with a blend of ingredients that have been shown to have a beneficial effect on acne prone skin. The results in testing, and now from user feedback have been remarkable which has been so thrilling to see as part of the R&D team who developed them. Making a genuine difference to people who suffer with skin issue makes the job hugely rewarding.”
